In order to be considered for this position, you must have a BA in Accounting with a minimum of 8 years related experience (some of which must be supervisory). Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory reporting required, IFRS knowledge a strong plus. | Details: Manager of Accounting -Cedar Rapids Community School DistrictThe Manager of Accounting provides oversight and direct supervision to seven Accounting Clerk positions and the Supervisor of Accounting within the Accounting Department. This position is responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely monthly/annual financial statements/reports as well as reviewing-refining and implementing improvements in established accounting policies and procedures. The Manager of Accounting works cooperatively with the District external auditor, Internal Auditor, Audit Committee and District Administration to achieve and maintain the highest level of public trust and safety of public assets. Duties include but not limited to: Oversee/Supervise all accounting functions, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and general ledger. Prepare (A) Monthly financial statements and reports to the Board of Education and (B) Departmental accounting schedules in a clear and understandable format. Monitor and follow established accounting policies and procedures. Provide annual training of established accounting policies and procedures to all District staff whose duties require handling of money. Serve on District Audit Committee. Perform cash management functions, which include determining daily and future cash requirements, compiling cash projections and investing reserve funds. Monitor categorical/grant funds for the District and prepare required financial reports. Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the District's annual budget. Provide accounting guidance for school activity funds and Kingston Stadium activity account. Hire, supervise and evaluate assigned Accounting Department personnel. Travel between locations within the City as necessary. ESSENTIAL SKILLS/APTITUDES REQUIRED: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional Software (Excel, Access, Power Point and Word), Internet technology, and Outlook email software. Effective oral and written communication. Require Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance with at least four years' relevant financial/ accounting experience. Must possess strong analytical skills, computer skills, and good interpersonal, communication skills.
